A LIFELONG COMMITMENT TO EDUCATION

A lifelong resident of Los Angeles, Robert was raised by his mother Lou Ann and stepfather Hilbert Robles Baeza, a WWII veteran, and attended public schools in the Los Angeles community of Boyle Heights.

Robert's family background is unique and yet familiar to many of us. His mother never finished high school and became a mother at a young age. Yet with Robert's encouragement, his mother finally earned her high school diploma and completed vocational training as a Certified Nursing Attendant at East Los Angeles Occupational Center, thus realizing her dream of a career in the medical field. Robert's father Fumio, a Korean War veteran, lived in Highland Park and worked all his life in the Little Tokyo Community.

Robert attended East Los Angeles Community College which helped him earn his BS degree in Public Affairs at USC (Cum Laude). He went on to earn his law degree from Loyola Marymount Law School in Los Angeles and is currently a member of the Japanese American and Mexican American Bar Associations. Robert has also been affiliated with over 20 community based organizations.

Always an outspoken activist and participant in community affairs, Robert has worked tirelessly to improve neighborhoods while empowering individuals to realize their potential through education.
