Revitalizing our Historic City

By Mario J. De La Torre

Candidate for Council Member; City of San Gabriel

This information is provided by the candidate
The importance of our Infrastructure and Schools
Our City is the birthplace of Los Angeles County, and the presence of our beautiful Mission and the Mission Playhouse brings thousands of tourists to our city each year. We are a "destination" city, and our surrounding neighborhoods and business districts should reflect our pride in our historic hometown. As such, our infrastructure and environment are crucial to the impression our city leaves with visitors. Well-maintained Roads and signage are also vital for public safety.
Additionally, we can never forget that the effectiveness and quality of our schools not only affects our children, to whom we owe the very best education we can provide, but also everything from property values and a desire to live in the city, to attracting new businesses as well. We must anticipate decreased funding from the State and support our schools with the resources needed to continue providing a quality education. The San Gabriel Comprehensive General Plan is Excellent--but let's get moving on it!
