Bellefonte National Guard Sendoff Parade and Speeches. From the CDT, Sept. 21, 2008

"On the eve of their 18-month tour, the local detachment of Company C in the 112th Regiment, 2nd Battalion, 56th Stryker Brigade, will continue a Bellefonte tradition dating to the Civil War. Historically, departing troops would parade down to the train station, now the home of the Bellefonte Intervalley Area Chamber of Commerce.

The park ceremony will feature speakers, the Bald Eagle Area and Bellefonte high school marching bands and donated refreshments."

Join the Democrats in front of their new office at 121 S. Allegheny Street to support our National Guard and then head down to the Park for the speeches.

Aaronsburg Dutch Fall Festival. This is an annual 2-day festival celebrating the fall season and Aaronsburg. Joanne will have a table on the square both days at the address noted here. Come by for a visit!

As usual, throughout town, there will be Craft Vendors, Entertainment and Food of all varieties. Of course at the Festival, there will have those Sticky Buns that you just can't get enough of, and the Ham and Bean Soup that screams "home made" as soon as you smell it. Along with all of that, Aaronsburg will have their traditional "Pot Pie Supper" , in the Community Building from 4 to 7 pm on Saturday, that defines "stick to your ribs" goodness! And don't forget the French Fries...One order will not be enough! Don't forget the "NOT TO BE MISSED" Quilt display at the Aaronsburg Library (located at 114 W. Plum St.).

Joanne Tosti-Vasey's race is located in the last section of your ballot just before the statewide referendum of the water and sewage bond.

Please vote for the entire Democratic slate and vote yes on the referendum. This referendum allows the state to obtain grants and loans to assist local communities to repair their water and sewage systems. Without these funds, communities will be forced to raise water and sewer rates to repair these systems as mandated by the Federal Clean Water Act and the Chesepeake Bay Initiative.
