Smart Voter Full Biography for Susan Murphy Kiskis

Candidate for
State Senator; District 31

This information is provided by the candidate

A resident of Mechanicsburg borough, Susan has taken an active role in working with community leaders to enhance the quality of life for residents and business owners. Susan is the owner of Providence Boutique located in town and is a member of the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce.

Raised in a conservative household, Susan's father is a World War II Veteran and mother is from a small farm in the former Yugoslavia. Her father, James Murphy experienced the Great Depression first hand and her mother, Fila, knew poverty. "My parents taught me the values of freedom, hard work, equality, and to always expect more. They taught me the importance of taking responsibility. My parents passed their values on to me -- values I share with you, the members of this community."

It is those values that lead Susan to have worked at WITF for almost eight years helping to provide quality programming to children and families. It is those values that lead her to serve her community as an example of leadership by creating programs for International Women's day and Earth Day and served the greater good by volunteering. As a small business owner and Member of the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce Susan has supported the community in which she lives. And as a mother, she serves on the PTO for our children.

Whether it's improving the quality of life or increasing awareness, Susan Kiskis continues to work for Central Pennsylvanians on defining issues that affect us all. But above all of her accomplishments, she is most proud and grateful for her family. Her husband, Matthew and daughter, Hope, 11, are her daily reminders that we must all work together to create a better tomorrow, a healthier and safer world.
