? 1. What are the two most pressing issues you will face if you are elected? (50 word limit)

Answer from Denise Driehaus:

The two most pressing issues will be education reform and dealing with foreclosure/housing issues.

? 2. How will you address each of those issues? (100 word limit)

Answer from Denise Driehaus:

I will work to ensure that the education reform being rolled out in 2009 will address financing problems in Ohio school districts. I will advance creative solutions that include public/private partnerships which give students the necessary skill sets to get a job upon graduation and which give local companies a ready pool of young people to draw from as they look to hire for the future. I will support efforts to keep people in their homes and make sure that funding is available to communities to either rehab or remove blighted properties.

? 3. What role should the state play in updating Ohio's aging infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, and transit services and equipment, in order to promote economic revitalization? (100 word limit)

Answer from Denise Driehaus:

The legislature will play a key role in providing some of the funding needed for repairs to our aging infrastructure. The state needs to promote an agenda that includes opportunity for more advanced transit systems throughout the state. These advancements will create jobs in the state and promote the growth necessary to attract and retain business.

? 4. What role do state legislators have in reforming health care in the U.S.? (100 word limit)

Answer from Denise Driehaus:

The state legislature can work to promote a health care agenda that is beneficial to all. Our health care delivery systems must be adequate and accessible. I think that the legislature should ensure that reimbursement rates for physicians are fair and that nurse to patient ratios be reasonable so as to provide good care and retain good nurses. I would also like to see the legislature advocate for preventive measures to keep our citizens healthy and avoid expensive treatments in the long run.
