|
I was born and raised in Hamilton County, Ohio, residing in Colerain Township for most of my life. My father, Donald Clancy, served the constituents of Hamilton County as a U. S. Congressman and he served as a role model for me when I decided to devote my life to the service of others. I graduated from McAuley High School and the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education. I have served as a probation officer and, additionally, am a licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, a licensed real estate sales agent and a licensed substitute teacher. I was elected to serve the people of Colerain Township as a Trustee and then proceeded to represent the people of western Hamilton County as an Ohio State Representative for four terms, serving as Majority Floor Leader for the republican caucus during my last four years. In 2004 I was elected to the Ohio Senate. I was the Chairman of the Senate Highways and Transportation Committee, the Vice-Chairman of the Senate Judiciary-Criminal Justice Committee, as well as serving on the Finance and Financial Institutions Committee, the Health, Human Services and Aging Committee and the Insurance, Commerce and Labor Committee. During my four years as a Senator, I showed passionate leadership in promoting women and children's health issues and fostering jobs and developing initiatives for a better Ohio. In addition, I continually focused on criminal justice and domestic violence issues and fought to curb crimes against vulnerable citizens. I have developed particular expertise and competence in protecting the citizens of Ohio by being a conservator of the budget. As a result, I was TWICE named the recipient of the "Watchdog of the Treasury" award from the United Conservatives of Ohio. As a Senator, I fought to protect mothers' rights to nurse their infant children. I was awarded a commendation from the Central Ohio Pediatric Society. I also received the 2003 March of Dimes award and the Accountability and Credibility Together Public Service Partner Award. I was also awarded a 2001 "Women Who Dared" award from the National Council of Jewish Women. I have always been a protector of Ohio's most valuable asset, our senior citizens. I was honored by the Ohio Stroke Council and the Paul Coverdell Initiative for my leadership in establishing the Ohio Stroke Council Education and Prevention Task Force in 2000. I am proud of my support of House Bill 642-which established the Ohio Stroke Council. Continuing my dedication to a lifetime of service, I am proudly currently serving as Hamilton County Assistant Chief Probation Officer. As Ohio House leader and State Senator, I was instrumental in the formulation and passage of laws that protect Ohio families. I was a co-sponsor of "Jennifer's Law", a law that prohibits sexual offenders from sealing their records from Ohio families. I also assisted in the passage of House Bill 191 which denies custody and visitation rights to a parent convicted of murdering the other parent. I am eagerly anticipating the opportunities to further serve the citizens of Hamilton County as Clerk of Courts, an office where I can continue to protect Ohio citizens from identity theft and internet fraud. I can also continue my passion for protection of Ohio families from predators. |
