Candidate for
US Representative; District 3

When the colonies declared their independence from Great Britain to the rest of the world, they published their beliefs and philosophy of government in a written document, known as our Declaration of Independence.

Some foundational principles unique to our American form of government are:

  • All men are created equal.

  • Right are from God, not men or governments.

  • Governments are instituted to secure these God-given rights.

  • Authority comes from the consent of the governed.

Our Constitution was designed to protect men and their rights from government usurpation and tyranny. Power was divided between three branches of government with checks placed on each of the branches. Powers were clearly defined and enumerated in all three branches within the Constitution itself. A Bill of Rights was added as another safeguard against the federal government stating clearly that all other powers and those not named were reserved to the states and the people. Finally, the most important and probably least understood and practiced check was given to the people through the power of the vote.

This system of government operating in a free market economy allowed self-governing individuals to pursue their hopes and dreams in ways never experienced by common men prior to this time. In less than 160 years, this formula succeeded in making the American nation the richest, most advanced society in the world.

There are a multitude of reasons that our country has slid into the economic and moral decline so evident today. The ignorance and apathy of the people regarding their role in safeguarding their liberties from those, who use their positions and powers to advance ideas and philosophies contrary to our unique form of government is only one, but a critically important one.

I am committed to the restoration of our constitutional form of government and a free market economy. If elected, I will obey my oath of office to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution in all my decisions. I will use my position to advance and educate others in the principles of government found in our foundational documents, the Declaration and Constitution of the United States.
