	Candidates Answer Questions on the Issues US Representative; District 3

What are your Qualifications for Office? (50 word limit) Answer from Kevin C. Babcock: I have lived in the city of St. Louis for over 20 years. The founding fathers envisioned normal citizens being elected for a term or two to represent their neighbors +not career politicians that are out of touch with how normal citizens live. I am a regular citizen. Answer from Russ Carnahan: In his second term in Congress, Congressman Carnahan was appointed to leadership positions as Senior Majority Whip and Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee's Subcommittee on International Organizations, Human Rights and Oversight, working to protect our troops. He was also named to the powerful Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Answer from Cynthia "Cindy" Redburn: I have a good working knowledge of the Constitution, which should be the most important requirement for any candidate in or seeking office. Answer from Chris S. Sander: I'm a small business owner and understand the impact of government in our lives. I also understand that people are tired of not having principled leadership and true representation in Washington. 2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (50 word limit) Answer from Russ Carnahan: As Senior Majority Whip, Congressman Carnahan has worked to increase the minimum wage, eliminate President Bush's Tax breaks to big oil companies, lower interest reates on student loans, restore public safety, and reduce the price seniors pay for perscription drugs, among many other projects. Answer from Cynthia "Cindy" Redburn: Sponsoring/Co-sponsoring legislation introducing the reforms necessary to return our federal government to it's constitutionally limited role until the time we have elected officials, who will obey their oath of office. Answer from Chris S. Sander: To promote economic growth, I will introduce legislation that will cut corporate tax rates to 10%. To immediately help the middle and lower income classes, I will introduce legislation that will allow all tuition and daycare costs, up to $20,000 annually, to be 100% tax deductible. I will also promote an "all of the above" energy plan to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Answer from Kevin C. Babcock: We have no business being in Iraq in the first place. I believe we can cut federal spending enough to get by without the income tax, it would require cutting federal spending back to the levels of a decade ago. We are never going to stop the flow of drugs with interdiction and arrests.
