Board Member; Oxnard Elementary School District

Denis O'Leary is a parent of two students currently in the Oxnard Elementary School District. Denis' oldest son is attending Oxnard High School.

Denis O'Leary has served our students as a classroom teacher for 20 years. He has developed curriculum, and addressed educational issues in local, state and national forums.

Denis O'Leary has served our community as an Oxnard School District Trustee for the past five years. In this time Denis has taken action to deal with state budget cuts, overcrowding, student achievement, literacy support and the selection of a new Superintendent among many other issues.

Denis has helped the Oxnard School District get away from the failed and expensive system of a multi track year round school schedule.

Denis proposed, wrote and helped pass the Oxnard School District's Living Wage Policy. This will recognize that the least paid employees of the district must be able to pay the high expenditures brought by living in Oxnard.

Denis has helped strengthen our educational curriculum. Student test scores are up. They still need to improve. Denis will continue to fight for the higher standards and expectations we place on our children and teachers.
