The quality of our schools directly affects the economy of Santa Paula and the value of our homes.Due to a lot of hard work from dedicated teachers, the Santa Paula Elementary School District test scores are improving. Unfortunately, however, the reputation of the schools is still not good. Lots of people without kids in the school system wrongly figure it doesn't matter. Some people think the proposed developments for new housing in East Area 1 and Adams Canyon will be the economic salvation of Santa Paula. However, people won't buy upscale homes if they have put their kids in private schools or take them to Ventura to get a decent education. The quality of the schools not only affects future homeowners, it affects the value of your home. The quality of the schools in Santa Paula is the most significant economic issue impacting the entire community. And, the entire community needs to work together to focus on providing the best education for all of our children in well maintained and up-to-date classrooms, improving test scores further and restoring pride in our schools. |
