We must plan and generate an ongoing economic plan to generate sales tax revenue and other sources of revenue to sustain our city through the coming years
Expenditures are over running revenue streams. The present Council and Management continue to chase every problem with money and hire more and more people and then outsource to consultants to a degree where we will follow Vallejo into bankruptcy for many of the same reasons with the key difference being that Vallejo has a sales tax base which Cotati failed to establish. To put it very simply where do you shop and why? Even with Big anchor stores like Lowe's the city has lost the concept of support shopping opportunities and is allowing more Condos to be built when it would be sensible to have additional clothing, specialty, and mixed use retail/entertainment outlets. People go next door because the things they need are there not here....One store in a vacant lot next to two highways is what Cotati's leadership holds as "Vision". They then backfill with $400,000 Condos which will complain of the noise and traffic of retail and the highways they were built next to....This is madness! Once again where do you do the bulk of your shopping and why?
