Proper Drainage For Our Entire CommunityBy Bill BookoutCandidate for Director; Oceano Community Services District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The sedimentation and debris in the Arroyo Grande Creek that runs next to our mobile home parks and then behind our sewer plant to the ocean is a major concern. The sedimination that has filled our Oceano lagoon over the years since the County dredged and expanded our lagoon in the early 1950's is a major concern; along with the County changing the Communities Historical Drainage after the County Airport was established in the early 1950's. The Removal of the Historical Palace Hotel Sand Dune site for County Drainage along Pismo Place, to the Oceano lagoon and development of the Community Airport with no maintance nor any Enviromental Impact Reports of this newly created drainage system is unacceptible. Highway 1 safety in recent years with cars stalling in flooded waters and the Drainage blockage of debris that flows into our Community drainage channels causing flooding of State Highway 1 is unacceptable. The building permits requirements by our County have not addressed this issue in the past, especially since the County is now requiring for all new development to have concrete curbs and gutters. As research has been done and knowledge of our whole community drainage system has been obtained it is time to see that our community benefits from this knowledge and is not held accountable for others mistakes! |
