Irene Sundberg's Position

By Irene Sundberg

Candidate for Council Member; City of Tracy

This information is provided by the candidate
My goal for Smart Growth is to promote sustainable land use policies, to achieve a unique sense of community and place by expanding the range of transportation, employment, and housing choices. When instituting Smart Growth practices I will address existing infrastructure deficiencies and ensure that all new development adequately funds Tracy's long-term health, safety and educational needs.
As a small business owner, long time resident, homeowner and parent, I understand the challenges residents face living in Tracy. I am a strong advocate for improving the quality of life in our community through prudent fiscal and land use policies.

I will continue to address public health and safety as well as police and fire staffing. I will work to implement smart growth building practices, sustainable land use policies and viable public transportation, which in turn will address current infrastructure deficiencies as well as attract educational partnerships and more jobs. In this election, with the downturn in the economy, it is now imperative that the councilmembers share this vision and work towards implementing sound fiscal policies, which will revitalize Tracy and enhance our city's economic appeal.

Using my leadership skills and experience, I will work towards integrating all of the above priorities while conscientiously making decisions as a councilmember that advocate for positive change and smart growth in Tracy.
