This information is provided by the candidate |
Candidate's Statement of Qualifications as filed with the Registrar of Voters for the November 4, 2008 General ElectionCarlon Perry Occupation: Newspaper Owner/Publisher Age 63 As the former mayor of the City of Manteca, owner/publisher of the Manteca-Lathrop Sun Post, past Lathrop County Water District Board president and a lifetime resident with family ties to the farming community, I have the background, experience and insight to carry on the visionary leadership that past SSJID directors have provided the district for more than 100 years. As a director, I will bring a philosophy of open discussion on issues facing agricultural irrigation needs, while also responding to cities' needs for drinking water and the district residents' needs for low-cost electricity. Until now, the SSJID board has consisted mostly of members of the farming community addressing farmers' concerns. It is time that city residents have a voice as well - one that can lead in progressive ideas and yield innovative results for another 100 years, while respecting and balancing the needs of all stakeholders involved. Together, we can create quality leadership for the future. I ask that you give me this opportunity to take on the challenge. |
