Maintaining Public SafetyBy Michael MacielCandidate for Council Member; City of Tracy | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Tracy is rated as one of the safest communities in California. In the face of reduced city revenue, we must work hard to keep Tracy safe.I am extremely proud to have served with the men and women of the Tracy Police Department and the fact that together we helped earn Tracy a rating as one of the safest cities in California. This was no accident. The police department developed a strategic plan that targeted problems, set goals and identified objectives to make Tracy a safer place. A key element to the plan's success was establishing a formula by which to determine appropriate staffing levels for the police department. As a council member, I will be committed to updating and supporting the strategic plan, with the goal of keeping Tracy's crime rates low. The Tracy Fire Department has recently identified a number of issues that need to be addressed in order to improve their level of service and the safety of the fire fighters. I will make finding the funds to cope with those issues a priority. Even though Tracy is a quality community in which to live, we cannot take our public safety for granted. |
