My campaign is the only campaign that has successfully run in 2006 obtaining 4253 votes.I ran in 2006 because I saw a need for a change in Manteca. No one else was going to do it and so I stepped up the the plate and began my campaign. I was the only candidate to run against two incumbents including the mayor who ran unopposed as a write-in.
With the odds against me, mostly money and no support whatsoever, no one gave a single penny to my campaign. I spent a total of $103.87. I got 23.04% of the vote.
I started going door-to-door to introduce myself to as many people I could because I had no budget. Time was what I had the most and that was very scarce, too. I did not back down.
I am back again and have been going door-to-door because I have no money like they do. I have not accepted contributions from those that would make me appear to be loyal to their special interests. I have decided against it and made it a principal to not accept these types of contributions.
I have not accepted endorsements from Republican or Democrat or any other parties or organizations as this would cause others to wonder if I separate my loyalty to them for the parties/organizations. I don't believe that a city council candidate needs an endorsement from these types, only from personal friends.
This is a very important election year and we need leadership with values and with a vision to see how it must operate. I need your help again and together we can make it happen. I have stood at your front doors and spoke to each of you about our needs and direction of our city. I will continue to listen to you. Let's break this current cycle of leaders and place new ones on the board.
Vote Samuel Anderson for Manteca City Council on November 4, 2008.
