"If we can shed the greed but share the glory, we can build a paradise right here on Earth. Let us begin to create Perris as the "Garden City and Gateway" to Southwestern Riverside County."New Leadership for the 21st Century My campaign for public office in the City of Perris has a popular grassroots basis. The campaign is organized and directed by the Perris Grassroots Campaign Committee to Elect Armmand 4 Mayor comprised of the "little people" or common people from all walks of working class life residing in our city. Our objective is to bring about thorough change in the way business is conducted at city hall. We propose to do this by introducing new thinking, openness, and a massive dose of common-sense democracy to Perris city government. We ask the voters to begin to "house-clean" at the top of city government by sending into retirement the present incumbent members of the City Council. One hardly needs to be reminded that nearly every one of the present members of the Perris City Council has been accused, fined or indicted for some rule violation or crime in the past five years. It is time that the leadership of our city should set a clear, law-abiding example for the community. There are issues of incompetence in the administration of city business, violations of the "Open Meetings" act, vindictive code enforcement against poor residents of our city, and generally lax enforcement of permit requirements for well-connected friends and cronies of some members of Council. We will open the policy-making process for full discussion and review to all the people of the community, soliciting their advice and consent before taking final action in Council. We will endeavor to make City Hall truly representative of all the people of the community by actively seeking to elect a more ethnically diverse City Council. We will actively seek the support and involvement of our youth and senior citizens in making Perris a more family-centered, people friendly town. We will undertake policies that will build "team-spirit" and community pride in the residents of our town while winning the respect of our neighbors. We pledge to build a new image of Perris as a forward-looking, harmonious, law-abiding, environmentally conscious city on the move into the 21st Century! All this is possible: If we can shed the greed but share the glory, we can build a paradise right here on Earth. Let us begin to create Perris as the "Garden City and Gateway" to Southwestern Riverside County. |
