Political Philosophy for Brian O'Neal
Candidate for |

|
The need for security throughout our district is of vital importance. Having a safe learning environment, and providing a safe teaching and working environment as well, is important to the health of our students' daily learning experience. As a board member, I will continue to support these endeavors. There is an emphasis through No Child Left Behind, to prepare students for college. I fully support this goal. However, a large number of students do not go to college after leaving high school, and these students need more opportunity to prepare themselves for life after high school. While I have been on the board, the district has been expanding the vocational curriculum, which is now called Career Technical Education. I will continue to support this effort. Maintaining a fiscally sound budget is a priority in order to properly educate our students. During this difficult economic time, we must be prudent in formulating our annual budget to minimize any negative impact on our students and staff. We have been successful in doing just that. |
