Since 1972, my wife, Joan, and I have been Moraga residents. Our three children, Julie, Lisa, and Mike attended schools in Moraga. Our children, our son-in-law, David Brown, and our two grandchildren, Daniel and Jessica Brown, live in the Bay Area.

I earned a B.S. degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a J.D. degree from the University of Chicago Law School. I am a Partner at Hanson Bridgett LLP in San Francisco, where I practice tax, corporate and general commercial law.

Shortly after moving to Moraga, I was elected to the Campolindo Homeowner's Association Board, and I also served on two committees for the Town of Moraga and co-chaired a committee for the Moraga School District. The volunteer spirit stuck with me. I have been a community volunteer for over 35 years. For 26 years, I have served on public boards, including 8 years on the Moraga School District Governing Board (1979-1987), 13 years on the Acalanes School District Governing Board (1987-2000), and since 2003 I have been a Director of the Fire District.

My accomplishments as a Fire District Director during the last 5 years include the following:

  • I supported the highest quality fire and emergency medical services.

  • I pushed for the expansion of paramedic ambulance service.

  • I encouraged the purchase of new ambulances, fire engines and other safety equipment.

  • I supported the replacement of an obsolete, unsafe firehouse.

  • I managed a bond issue on behalf of the Board that considerably reduced the District's future interest costs.
