Candidate for
Director; Moraga-Orinda Fire Protection District; Division 5

This information is provided by the candidate

I have been a firefighter for almost 14 years. As the only paramedic on a fire engine, I am often the first on the scene to respond to a medical emergency. I am proud of what I do and know I make a difference in people's lives.

I grew up in Orinda, attending Sleepy Hollow Elementary, Orinda Intermediate and Miramonte High School. I am married and reside in Orinda with my wife, Alison, and our two dogs. I served as a firefighter for Moraga/Orinda before transferring to San Francisco, where I work in some of the busiest fire stations in the nation.

I am running for the Moraga/Orinda Fire District because I want to make a bigger contribution to our community. Fire protection, especially in Orinda, is a high priority. We live in the highest fire risk area in Lamorinda + and what happened years ago in the Oakland Hills could happen to us. We need to be prepared.

As your Fire District representative, I will make the following a top priority:

Financial Stability: We need to ensure we can maintain our firefighters' ability to respond to fires and medical emergencies in the face of rising costs and expenditures.

Fire Protection/Water Storage: The District needs to be more prepared in the event of a catastrophic fire.

Seismic Retrofitting: If (experts say when) there is a major earthquake, Station 41 on Moraga Way and Station 43 on Charles Hill Road need seismic work done to be prepared to assist residents in this kind of emergency.

I am enthusiastic about the possibility of serving you on the Fire District. If you have any questions, I hope you will call me personally at (925) 253-1553. Thank you for your consideration.
