After 11 years of serving on the Fire Board, my experience with local citizens' emergency needs and preparedness is very developed.
I was first elected to the San Ramon Valley Fire Board in 1997. Since that time, I have had the honor, with four other Directors, to select three fire chiefs. Also during that period, the revenue, from property taxes, has grown from about $20,000,000 to over $51,000,000 for 2008-09. The population of the District and the number of responses has also shown impressive increases. As a Director, I have overseen policy changes to enable a smooth growth process. These policies include the disposal of surplus equipment, the purchase of replacement equipment, the education requirements for various positions, shift changes, new stations, remodeled stations and mapping capabilities. It is essential that the District stay ahead of potential funding opportunities, the latest in technical services and hiring practices all while continuing to maintain an average of less than five minutes response time. Re-elect me and you will continue to have a voice on the Board who will guide the administration to use our revenues carefully, keep a good reserve and cut back when times such as these demand action. After years of serving, I have a sound record of financial responsibility, and as an accessible public servant with the ability to work well with both the firefighters and the administration. I am proud of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District and to have been your representative on the board.
