1. What proposals do you have to increase employment opportunities in Massachusetts?
I recently participated in a commission and led the debate in the Senate to create economic opportunities by closing certain corporate tax loopholes, lowering the tax rate for thousands of small businesses and making the tax code more fair and predictable. I have also been an active supporter of the life sciences industry in Massachusetts, which is a growing segment of our economy. Finally, I support greater opportunities for job training.2. How will you rectify problems with aging Massachusetts infrastructure, especially bridges and tunnels?
Infrastructure is an important public safety and economic development issue. I recently supported a major bond bill that would finance the repair and maintenance of bridges and tunnels throughout the state.3. Governor Patrick has proposed a wide-ranging plan to transform education in the Commonwealth. What do you see as the top priorities in his plan and what funding mechanism do you feel will enable their successful implementation?
I believe the Commonwealth should ensure that school districts receive the proper funding to educate our children, and not place the burden on local property owners. We should also do more to promote early education.
