As a member of the Governor's Council, what contributions will you make to the Commonwealth's government? Answer from Robert L. "Bob" Toomey, Jr.: As a retired Boston Police Officer I have a unique perspective of how the judiciary operates. Based on my experiences as an advocate for the victims of crimes, I feel I shall attempt to appoint judges who can balance the rights of the defendants but also the rights of the victims in society. Too often I find a very small minority of our judges bend over backwards to guarantee the rights of the accused over the rights of our law abiding citizens. Responses to questions asked of each candidate are reproduced as submitted to the League.  Candidates' responses are not edited or corrected by the League.
