The Antelope Valley War On Gangs: The politics of distraction-Are we attempting to miss an opportunity to address profound issues of major community and economic development by way of an integrated approach to human development that captures the creativity and potential of communities, schools, and workplaces or, will we be intent on having our attention diverted again only to gain temporary relief from the pains of rapid growth and poor planning?Throughout the history of the growth of cities, major changes that affect all communities and cause fragile and impersonal human ties are population growth, mobility, urbanization and more recently, a host of severe problems including those brought on by rapid growth of both legal and illegal immigration. Education is one of the most effective interventions for improving the social and economic future for individuals, communities, states, and the country as a whole. What must be involved at the community level of planning is a close relationship between the educational system and the economy. In other words, it is assumed that a community's economic development is inextricably linked to its educational development.
