Councilmember Nancy Pyle Biography

Nancy Pyle's life has been characterized by hard work and independence. Raised on a farm she began working at age 6 to help her parents make ends meet. She used her grit and determination to put herself through college, and today she is bringing that same work ethic and common sense to City Hall.

In 2005, Nancy began her first term on the San Jose City Council as the representative for District 10. A retired teacher of 25 years and a former Community College Board Trustee, Nancy represents more than 89,000 residents from Almaden and Blossom Valleys.

As our City Councilmember, Nancy has brought her innovative approach to solving today's challenges through creativity and collaboration. She has focused city government on the basics, maintaining our streets and parks, keeping our neighborhoods safe, investing resources in youth and senior programs and making city government more accountable.

Councilmember Nancy Pyle is the Chair of both the Community and Economic Development Committee and the Santa Clara County Emergency Preparedness Council. She also serves on the Neighborhood Services and Education Committee and is the liaison to the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Disability Advisory Commission.

Nancy Pyle is a graduate of LeMoyne College in Syracuse, New York, and earned a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from the US International University in San Diego. She has two adult children. Nancy and her husband Roger have lived in Almaden and Blossom Valley for 25 years.
