Secure our borders! Enforce the current Immigration laws! Address the programs that provide the incentive for people to come to America illegally. No Amnesty, No Welfare, No Drivers Licences and No in-state tuition grants for illegal immigrants. Deport the law-breakers and preserve the english language.
The United States of America is a nation governed by the rule of law. As Americans, we are expected and required to abide by the law. The same should be expected of anyone else that comes into our country. When the immigration laws in this counrty are broken, the laws should be enforced and there should be consequences and penalties for the law-breakers.

I fully support any foreign born immigrant that enters the U.S. legally and lawfully. The majority of Americans are compassionate and understanding people. We can all respect the efforts of honest, hardworking individuals that come to America, seeking a better life for themselves and their families.

The pursuit of the American Dream can be a daunting task and sometimes, even an elusive goal for Americans and immigrants alike. We should welcome devoted immigrants that embrace our country, our language and our culture. As a society, with concerns for the national interest, we shouldn't tolerate legal or illegal immigrants that come to the United States to exploite our system. For this reason, I do not support any type of tax-payer funded government assistance for legal or illegal immigrants. Coming to the U.S. to work, assimilate and contribute is fine with me. Coming to the U.S. to take advantage of the our generosity is not!

While I do consider myself, a proponent for legal immigration, I recognize the potential dangers presented by, unchecked-mass-immigration. The federal government must set immigration numbers giving the ultimate priority to the needs of the American people, our jobs, our infastructure and our way of life. American interests should always be priority #1.

The annual average number of legal immigrants addmitted into the United States from 1925-1965 was 178,000 people. In 1965, Congress changed the U.S. Immigration Law and inadvertently sent the numbers skyrocketing. In 1965-1989 the annual average number of legal immigrants addmitted into the U.S. surged to 507,000 people. In the 90's we continued to see a rapid increase as numbers climbed to nearly 1,000,000. Currently the annual average is +1,000,000; and that's just the legal immigrants that are coming into our country. Third-World impoverished countries deserve our sympathy but never at the expense of our own people.

I recognize that our borders are far from secure. For this reason, I support a fence along our southern border to hinder the flow of illegals that take advantage of our open-door policy. More importantly, we all must realize that there are more reasons then just the lack of a phisical barrier that enables and motivates illegal immigrants to come here. We must address the programs that provide the incentive for illegal immigrants to come into our country, such as, the Welfare that they receive, birthright-citizenship and illegal employment.

The federal government is not adequately enforcing our immigration laws, this must change. The states must work together to help influence federal government action. State law enforcement officers should be allowed to enforce the law and have the power to do so. There should not be any Sanctuary Cities within the fifty states. No city in the United States is lawless or exempt from the rule of law and cities such as, L.A. and San Francisco should be pressured by state and federal authorities to recognize the law.

Undocumented aliens should be arrested, by authorities at the local, state or federal level and then turned over to the proper federal agency for deportation. No local or state authority should have their hands tied and the federal government must change their "do nothing" approach on this matter. Congress must pass new legislation stiffening penalties for employers that hire illegal immigrants. Illegal employers should not be allowed to profit at the expense of tax-payers and honest business owners.

The legal and illegal immigration issue is a complex one, but with a little common-sense and a good look at the facts, I believe that we can all find out what works best for the American people.
