1. What are your qualifications for office? (50 word limit)
In March 2007, I retired from the Newtown Police Division, after serving the citizens of Newtown for 34 years. The last 20 years I was honored to be your Chief of Police, managing some of the finest, most professional police officers in the area. I participated, and am knowledgeable in the budgeting and appropriation process. For the entire 20 years that I was Chief, I maintained a balanced budget, proving myself to be fiscally responsible with the citizen's hard earned tax dollars. Equipment was purchased and updated as needed, so that the officers had the most up-to-date tools to protect the residents in the safest, most efficient manner possible.2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)
- Open communication between Council and the citizens.Make citizens feel welcome to voice their concerns at Council meetings, and know that their concerns can be aired without fear of censorship, intimidation, or reprisal from their Village government and Administration.
- The current Municipal Building has served its purpose well over the years, however the department offices are extremely cramped for room. Boxes of records are stored, and literally stacked to the ceiling beams in the basement, which leaks water, putting those records at risk of damage and destruction. Council needs to explore property purchase options for a combined complex to house the Municipal offices, Public Safety Departments (Police and Fire), Building and Property Inspector, as well as a Community Meeting Facility for organized groups that wish to use it.
- Address traffic congestion and stay up-to-date with the latest actions concerning the Eastern Corridor, etc.
