With potential disaster originating from both natural and manmade causes, emergency preparedness is a subject on a great many minds. A large magnitude earthquake has been and continues to be the greatest potential natural disaster we must face and with the events of 9/11, being prepared for a manmade disaster is a must.

As a CERT graduate, I want to make sure that we are as prepared as we can be to address any of these unforeseen events. The unique geography of Foster City with its two avenues of egress present challenges in preparing for the safety of our citizens in the event of a disaster. I want to make sure that we are doing everything possible to be prepared should such a chaotic situation occur.
