As a high school student, I demonstrated an ability in science and math, and was encouraged to study Chemical engineering at Michigan State Univ. I later switched to residential construction, but left to join the Army. After being honorably discharged, I decided I would rather work with people than things and took a job with the California Youth Authority, attending UCLA, majoring in Human Services and Management. I subsequently promoted to Correctional Counselor and Parole Agent. After retiring from state service, I became a full-time coach for my daughters' basketball and softball adventures. I am District Coordinator of the AARP Tax-Aide Program for western Riverside County. My strongest points are my background in science and accounting, and my knowledge of government agencies, as well as a dash of common sense
