Dear Neighbor,

I have been involved in community work all my life. Ever since I first worked as a hospital volunteer as a teenager in the 1970's, I've been deeply committed to public service. Raising my own teenagers, I always emphasized the importance of giving back to others.

I've spent most of my time over the last 6 months walking Novato's neighborhoods, speaking one-on-one with our citizens, listening to concerns, and sharing ideas for our city's future.

This experience has reinforced my belief that Novato is a city of dedicated and civic-minded residents, who deserve leaders who are in tune with the needs of our community.

Please feel free to stop by my website at http://www.patersonforcouncil.com for more on my campaign, or email me at annanpaterson@comcast.net to share your concerns or ideas for Novato's future.

I look forward to serving as your City Councilmember.

Annan

As your Councilmember you can count on me to:

Control Growth and Traffic and Protect Our Environment

As your Councilmember, I will promote innovative development and transit options, making our roads safer and less congested, and I will use my experience as the President of Sustainable Novato to protect our environment and open space.

Balance Our Budget and Fully Fund Public Safety

By investing in local businesses, and providing opportunities for Novatans to shop locally, we can keep our budget balanced and our economy strong, so we never have to cut our vital city services again.

Ensure a City Government That is Open, Honest and Accessible

Novato's citizens should have more influence on local government than big moneyed special interests. Last year, as the Chair of Fair Campaigns Novato, I led the effort that resulted in the City Council signing into law an ordinance that established a $400 maximum cap on all political campaign contributions for Novato elections, returning our city government to its rightful owners: you.

My History of Community Service:

  • Chair, Fair Campaigns Novato
  • President, Sustainable Novato
  • Former Chair, Novato Multicultural Commission
  • Co-Founder, United for Safe Schools Novato
  • Community Representative, Marin Human Rights Roundtable
  • Board of Directors, North Bay Children's Center
  • Board of Directors, Cancer as a Turning Point National Conference
  • Board of Directors, The Marin Institute
  • Advisory Board Member, Novato Wellness Center
  • Board Member, Citizens Oversight Committee, Transportation Authority Marin
  • Committee Member, "Every 15 Minutes," Teen Drunk Driving Prevention Program
  • Graduate, Citizens Police Academy
  • Producer, Novato Public Access Television
  • Recipient, Marin County Human Rights Commission's Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award
  • Recipient, Marin County Office of Education's Golden Bell Award
  • Public School Guidance Counselor for 25 years
