BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH of GREG BROCKBANK

Greg Brockbank is a 40-year resident of Marin County, and for the past 22 years, has been a civic and political activist while practicing law. He has also been elected to countywide public office five times as a trustee of the Marin Community College District, serving from 1989 to present.

Greg attended local public schools and graduated from Hastings Law School in 1985. His daughter, Amy, was born in 1985, and his son Brennan in 1986, and both now live in Marin after graduating from college. Greg's wife, Esther Wanning, is a marriage and family therapist working for Ohloff House in Novato, and the long-time volunteer director of the Marin chapter of Health Care for All, which advocates for a single-payer health care system.

After graduating from law school, Greg established his own general civil practice, and currently is the owner of Marin Law Center in San Rafael. He feels that his 22 years of helping mostly low-income clients solve their legal problems has given him valuable insights into the problems and needs of Marin's citizens.

Also immediately upon graduation from law school, Greg became active in Marin's Democratic Party; he is the chair of the Democratic Central Committee of Marin, its governing body. He has also chaired the boards of numerous other nonprofit civic organizations, and served on many others, including most recently, as President of the Social Justice Center of Marin.

Greg lives in the Dominican neighborhood of San Rafael, with his wife and two cats, and he occasionally visits there in between meetings in a futile attempt to keep up with his newspapers.
