Robert Urteaga Biography Robert Urteaga was born and raised in Montebello. Throughout his life, Urteaga has been working to make a positive difference in the lives of many working families and their children. His candidacy for Montebello City Council on November 6, 2007 represents his continued desire to serve his community with honesty and integrity. With the current instability at city hall, Urteaga knows how important his consensus style of management experience is needed towards bringing back unity for our city. Urteaga believes in an open-door policy whereby the council meetings should be televised. He also believes in the people's right to choose their own fire department. And that politicians need to be held accountable by putting the interest of the Montebello community first. His Educational Experience: Attended Fremont Elementary, La Merced Intermediate and graduating with honors from Montebello High 1993, where he played Varsity Basketball, Volleyball, and was a member of California Scholarship Federation. He was a Team Leader for the Brain Ball Student Tournament. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles U.C.L.A. in 1998. His Professional Work Experience: President of RU Consulting, and business partner of Burnside & Associates whereby he focuses on economic development and community outreach. He also worked for former Speaker of the California State Assembly Bob Hertzberg, Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan, Councilmember's Nick Pacheco and Janice Hahn. Robert Urteaga Community Service: Worked as a Montebello YMCA Summer Youth Camp Counselor. He was a Summer Youth Education Training Program (SYETP) participant where he worked as an Assistant for the Montebello Parks and Recreation Department. At UCLA, Urteaga served as Treasurer, Vice President and President of Theta Delta Chi, and was a member of the Latin American Business Students Association. Robert Urteaga is one of six children who all graduated from Montebello High School. His father Armando Urteaga Sr. was a former military veteran who passed away in 1988, whereby his mother Lydia De La Riva was left to raise all her children. Urteaga currently lives with, and financially takes care of his mother. |
