Experience That Counts The only candidate with public and private industry experience, Michael's background offers a combination of diverse assignments that allow him to construct solutions with a professional, common sense approach. By marrying the pragmatic problem-solving skills of his engineering background with the public service experience gained under Congresswoman Jane Harman and as the Chairman of Hermosa Beach's Public Works Commission, Michael has a unique skill-set that applies to the current vital decisions facing Hermosa Beach. Professional Experience After a successful engineering career Michael chose to pursue a career in public service that led him to be the senior South Bay representative for Congresswoman Jane Harman. His most significant contribution was towards the successful fight to keep the Los Angeles Air Force Base (a $61 billion economic engine) in El Segundo. He has since gone on to provide community advocacy and communications consulting to individuals, organizations and municipalities throughout greater Los Angeles. Hermosa Beach Service As Chairman of Hermosa Beach's Public Works Commission, Michael facilitates a variety of infrastructural decisions, such as a collaborative effort to address resident concerns on traffic, parking and safety. Michael actively supports the Hermosa Centennial Celebration, chairing the '100 Acts of Beautification' sub-committee. He is also an Executive Board Member of the Hermosa Arts Foundation, which provides funding and support for events like the Art Walk, Movies in the Park an the Hermosa Shorts. Personal Michael and his wife Danay are residents of 2nd Street. Danay is a breast cancer survivor and founder of YogaBuddies, a company devoted to promoting well-being by teaching yoga to children. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. |
