How I contribute to the Altadena community

By volunteering
Library Board Members receive no compensation. This is a voluntary job. Here is how I have volunteered to better my community:

  • I have been a Board Member since the Board appointed me to fill a vacancy in 2005.

  • I chaired the 2004 campaign to retain and strengthen the parcel tax that yields 28% of the Library's operating revenues. (Needing 67% of votes to pass, the measure received 77% overall, and more than 67% in every precinct.)

  • I have also served two years as Board liaison to the Friends of the Altadena Library, a civic organization indispensable to the quality of the Library's services.

  • I have been an AYSO coach, referee, and administrator since 1996--even after my child left the program in 2004.

  • I have chaired the Altadena Recreation Advisory Council, to preserve and improve Altadena's parks.

  • I have helped volunteer crews maintain the local mountain trails.

I want to continue to volunteer to help Altadena.
