Why am I runningBy David DatzCandidate for Board of Trustees; Altadena Library District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Because I want the best for my community, and because the Library is central to that communityBecause I want the best of my community, I feel obliged to contribute my time and services to it. Therefore, like many people, I volunteer: I have chaired the Altadena Recreation Advisory Council, dedicated to the preservation of Altadena's parks; I work occasionally on National Forest trail maintenance; I am a youth soccer coach, referee, and organizer, even though my only child is finished with the program. Specific to the Altadena Library, I have volunteered in two campaigns to extend the parcel tax that brings in about a quarter of the Library's total revenues. In 2004 I chaired the winning campaign. I volunteered to fill a vacancy on the Library Board of Trustees in 2005. I considered working for the Library as an unpaid Trustee to be an extension of my volunteer activities. I am running because I enjoy the work and believe I am good at it. |
