Challenger Seeking a Better Future For His City DistrictBy Eric Dwight RothenayCandidate for Council Member; City of Los Angeles; District 6 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
My name is Eric Dwight Rothenay and I am running for Los Angeles City Council District 6. I hope to make a difference in our neighborhoods. As a peace officer in the City of Van Nuys for the last three years, I have failed to see any positive change in many of our communities by public officials. If elected I will donate a portion of my city salary to pay for city and non-profit organization programs that will improve the safety and conditions of our city streets. I will make sure that issues involving the repair of sidewalks and roads, as well as, bulky abandoned items are picked up and handled in a timely manner. In addition, I will make sure that citizen complaints are not ignored and will hold frequent town meetings as to receive feedback on my progress as a councilman. Lastly, I propose to have our neighborhood councils to approve all appointed field deputies in their areas and have a zero tolerance rule should a deputy fail to fulfill the needs of their communities. The following are other areas that I will be focusing if elected: - I will do what is necessary to maintain general funding to keep our roads well maintained. - I will improve general services, such as; tree trimming and imminization programs for sick and elderly. - I will create more affordable housing and go after slumlords and illegal home conversions in high crime areas. - I will work in conjunction with other agencies in both the public and private sectors to maximize the amount of economic development. - I will allow easy access for the community to express concerns, make suggestions, and offer solutions to their meaningful issues and ideas. - I will work to get more police coverage on the streets and in our neighborhoods. - I will fight to keep drugs and violence off our streets and out of our schools. - I will identify and implement ways to make the city more efficient without raising taxes or cutting essential services. - I will donate $25,000 a year from the City Council salary to non-profit organizations in our community (a total of $100,000 for a four year term). As a representative for the residents of District 6, I would like to get your feed back and comments as to the concerns you have for our district. I would like to address your problems. Please feel free to send an E-Mail to me. |
