Candidate for
Council Member; City of Claremont

Sam serves as an Environmental Planner for the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County where he serves in the Office of Information Services. He specializes in the outreach to environmental organizations and elected officials on all levels of government. He formally served as the Public Information Coordinator for the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District where he performed similar work. His professional background includes positions with the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority, offices of Hilda Solis, during her term in the California Assembly, Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina, and with former Congressman Esteban Torres. Sam has a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from San Diego State University and a Master of Science in Urban Planning from UCLA.

Sam is a Commissioner on the Claremont Community Services Commission, Chair of the Claremont Youth Sports Facility Committee, Treasurer for the San Gabriel Valley Public Affairs Network, Founding Boardmember of the Amigos de los Rios, and boardmembers of the following organizations: Claremont Wildlands Conservancy, Claremont Heritage, Sierra Club, San Gabriel River Discovery Center and San Gabriel River Conservation Task Force.

Sam and his wife Julie moved to Claremont in 1996. Julie currently serves as President of the Mountain View Elementary School Parent and Faculty Association. They have two boys, Zachary, age 9, and Nicholas, age 7.
