This information is provided by the candidate |
Introduction LetterDear friends and neighbors: Happy New Year! My name is Uriel Macias, your former City Treasurer, and I am vying for a seat on the Azusa City Council. I respectfully ask for your support and vote on March 6th. I offer my experience, commitment, leadership, and ethics as your voice on the Azusa City Council. Blessed with great natural resources and human capital, together we have the potential to make Azusa a proud model community. This requires maintaining high standards and expectations, especially of our elected officials. We will not compromise our vision and values. Using my experience and your input, I will dedicate my term towards: . bringing in more quality stores and restaurants. . making public safety a priority. . improving education, recreation and community programs. . increasing opportunities for first time homeownership. My goal is to be your voice, the hard working families of Azusa. Many of you participated in a four year-long effort (Citizen's Congress) in order to write a new General Plan to help shape the future of Azusa. City officials told you that your voices mattered and we need someone who will listen and follow through on what you, the people, want - not what out of town special interests promote. My bond to the City of Azusa runs deep, I was born, raised, and educated in Azusa. I earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Cal-Poly Pomona and went to work in the investment-banking field. As your past City Treasurer, I made sure to manage our finances more efficiently, stretch our tax dollars, and NOT raise taxes. I also refinanced all of our city debt and saved the city well over $2 million. Furthermore, I had the privilege of being treasurer of the citizen's campaign for a new library. As an active member of our community, I serve in many civic organizations around town, such as The Helping Hand, The Eagles Club, Sister City, Civitans, The American Legion, and others. As a current member of the City Personnel Commission, elected by the city employees to represent them, I preside over many positive issues pertaining to city/employee matters. I will work tirelessly to ensure that we continue to improve at every level. I look forward to your continued support and vote on March 6th. Respectfully, Uriel Edward Macias |
