Value Public Space and Encourage VolunteerismBy Mark Manuel GuillenCandidate for Council Member; City of Paramount | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Creating safe public spaces allows the community to gather, encouraging neighbors to meet, businesses to flourish, and nurturing a strong small town feel that Paramount was built upon. Getting the community to volunteer in making this a cleaner, safer place will give a sense of ownership back to its citizens.I value creating safe, lighted public spaces which allow for the citizens to gather as community, encouraging neighbors to meet, businesses to flourish, and nurturing a strong small town feel that Paramount was built upon. Back in the 1990's, Paramount made dramatic positive changes because of a large volunteer involvement through the Looking Good Program. However, we have moved away from that in our community. We need to get back to creating opportunities for Paramount Residents to volunteer in making Paramount a cleaner, safer place. This will give them a sense of ownership of the Community, and encourage them to take better care of the public space, and give them pride in their surroundings. |
