Los Angeles County, CA | March 6, 2007 Election |
Over developmentBy David Glenn "Dave" CainCandidate for Council Member; City of Los Angeles; District 2 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Unchecked development, without care for the effects on a community, and the degradation of the quality of life in that community needs to be addressed differently. The rampant unchecked development brings many problems to our communities, increased traffic, overcrowding of schools and major drains on public services that are already stretched thin . Not to mention the problem of affordable housing, when people making the average income($40,000year or less)can no longer afford to live in our city and neighborhoods, we lose a vital part of the fabric that makes up our community. This also encourages multiple family's to occupy the same residence, adding to overcrowding of our streets as well as the substandard living conditions in those residences.
Most of this problem is driven by the greed of developers who care little for the wellbeing of our communities. The proven reluctance of our Planning dept. and Building and safety dept. and our elected officials to enforce the laws and regulations on the books already.
