1. The American occupation in Iraq continues to be enormously costly in dollars and in lives. What is your position on how our government should proceed?
I have publicly said authorizing action in Iraq was one of the most difficult votes I cast. But we are committed, and must see the mission through. Our security depends on democracy succeeding. America's troops must be the best trained and best equipped so they can complete that mission.2. What is your impression of the roll-out of the Medicare Prescription Drug program so far, and what changes would you propose to make it better?
After running an aggressive program throughout the 26th district to educate seniors and help them enroll, I'm pleased to report that 63 percent of eligible seniors have enrolled in the first-ever Prescription Drug benefit. They're getting the drugs they need and saving real money.3. Where do you stand on the current balance between security and civil rights?
The plot to blow up American airliners leaving London shows the dangers of 9/11 still exist; and we have a responsibility to take every action needed to protect the safety of every American. I believe we can and must give law enforcement the tools they need without trampling our rights.
