Questions & Answers

1. There is growing support for reform of the Rockefeller drug laws. What will you do to: a.) Initiate significant reform of these laws; b.) Provide adequate financial support for programs, on the community level, designed to cope with the impact of such reform?

a.) I would support additional reforms to the Rockefeller drug laws provided I have assurances from district attorneys and others charged with protecting the public that any effort undertaken by Albany will not have the unintended consequence of expediting the release of someone who will likely re-offend. b.) It is also very important that we as a state provide adequate resources for the rehabilitation of formerly incarcerated individuals.

2. What programs and actions will you support to protect communities from the negative consequences of the state’s increasing dependence on gambling revenue?

I will support expanded services and treatment opportunities for problem gamblers, especially here in Erie County. We must do all we can to prevent our region from allowing our local population to suffer the negative consequences of gambling addictions.
