1. The American occupation in Iraq continues to be enormously costly in dollars and in lives. What is your position on how our government should proceed?
Our government should recognize the falsified reasoning for invading Iraq, hold the Administration responsible for its deceit, and set a plan and appropriate timeline for withdrawal. Also, through the United Nations, establish a conference including ourselves, Middle East nations, Europe, Russia, China, and Japan to address and solve the regions issues.2. What is your impression of the roll-out of the Medicare Prescription Drug program so far, and what changes would you propose to make it better?
The Republican program has been the disaster I predicted when I voted against the legislation: seniors faced serious problems enrolling, discovered that the drugs they need are not covered, and paid higher prices than they can afford. I have cosponsored legislation to replace Part D with a comprehensive, affordable benefit.3. Where do you stand on the current balance between security and civil rights?
The greatest threat to our democratic republic currently is internal, not external. We must overcome the culture of fear cultivated by this Administration, and reestablish the rule of law for our government. Congress must protect American Constitutional rights and freedoms + most presently threatened those under the First and Fourth amendments.
