Effective LeadershipBy Jeff BrownCandidate for State Senator; District 49 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
As a captain in the 174th Fighter Wing, I know that it takes leadership and discipline to get the job done right. First, I always try to build consensus, such as with my creation of the bipartisan Armed Forces Legislative Caucus and the Legislative Reform Caucus to bring together legislators on issues important to all New Yorkers. But I also have a long history of fighting hard for the taxpayers of Upstate New York. While not typical for a minority member of the Legislature, I have been successful in authoring statewide laws, including the Craig J. Todeschini felony pursuit law and the "Come Home to New York" Network. I do not hesitate to take a stand for what's right for Upstate New Yorkers. I've bucked the Albany party bosses and special interests by voting against a number of bloated state budgets, and I'm proud to say I've never voted for a tax increase. At the end of the day, I hope that my efforts in Albany will some day influence my young daughter's decision about where to live and raise her family. The party registration of those who are successful in bringing change to this state will matter little. But their actions + and the aggressiveness with which they pursue change + will make a difference. |
