Official Statement for Joanne Ruth Argyres

I would like to serve on the Cloverdale Unified School District governing board because I believe in the importance of an excellent education and have the necessary qualifications. First of all, I have lived in Cloverdale for the last 30 years, and my son attended Cloverdale schools from Kindergarten through high school graduation. Secondly, I have taught in four different school districts before teaching Spanish, French and U.S. History for 25 years in Cloverdale. I have also taught at Santa Rosa Junior College and coordinated the Academic Decathlon at the Sonoma County Office of Education. Accordingly, I have attended many school board meetings and read extensively reports and existing school board policies, and have learned the importance of being fair and honest when dealing with children. I graduated from U.C. Berkeley. Later I studied in France and at U.C. Santa Barbara for a master's degree. Courses were also taken at Sonoma and Sacramento State. Therefore, I know what types of educational settings are best, how to operate on the basis of information and foresee the consequences of actions, using input from those most affected. Finally, because of my experience living and traveling in other counties, I am well prepared to find solutions in a diverse society. |
