When I was growing up, schools and education were the main topic of conversation in our home. My parents were committed to quality public education, and so am I. As a Deputy District Attorney, I taught juries to hold people accountable for both their behavior and its consequences. When I retired, I wanted to reach young people with these ideas before they got into trouble. This is why I brought the Peer Court to our community, and why I volunteered for five years at the continuation High School. I am pleased to have been honored for that work, but am most gratified when I run into former students who tell me how these projects improved their lives. School Trustees have a fiduciary duty to hold the District accountable on behalf of the taxpayers and the students. Our children's and our democracy's future depends upon the quality of the public education we provide. Nobody will be more committed, more skilled or more hardworking as a trustee than I can and will be. |
