My views on growth
Tracy's city government must be flexible as it copes with regional growth. With only approximately 12% of Tracy's population still working in agriculture and a cooling housing industry, we must be prepared to take advantage of new and different economic growth opportunities.
The importance of quality city services
There has been a history of just "adequate" city services in past years, largely a result of cost saving effforts on the part of city government. Rather, Tracy has grown in both size and quality into a community that expects and deserves excellent service for its citizens.
Tracy is a community in transition.
Tracy has evolved from a railroad town, to an agricultural center, to a bedroom community, and now enjoys great potential for commercial and economic growth in a number of areas. Many retail businesses have realized success with the development of the West Valley Mall, Auto Mall and neighboring stores in the north-west corner of town. The north-east side of Tracy hosts an active warehouse and shipping industry. New industries, with quality employment opportunites should be in our future.
