It is time for a change

By Dennis M. Lobenberg

Candidate for Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator; County of San Joaquin

This information is provided by the candidate
Crime in San Joaquin County remains out of control. People want new, innovative leadership to make things right. My 31 years with the California Highway patrol has given me the tools to do the job.
Recent statistics show that San Joaquin County is the number 1 per capita for violent crime in the State of California. We are also among the leading counties for vehicle theft. This is unacceptable! I am running for Sheriff to bring to the County the skills that I have gained with my years leading on of the nations top law enforcement agencies, the California Highway Patrol. I recently retired as the Chief in the CHP's Office of field operations. In that job, I travelled through out the state and have seen how other Sheriff's Offices keep their citizens safe. It is time for us to do the same. My plan is simple. Upon assuming the job of Sheriff, I will make a top to bottom assessment of the Sheriff's Office. I will build upon the strengths I find and eliminate waste and weaknesses. By doing this, I will give you the taxpayer the most from your money. I will not ask for more of your money until I am certain that what you pay now is giving you what you expect. I plan to run the Sheriff's Office like a business. Unlike other commercial businesses that have to deliver a material product, our product will be your safety. I will set ambitious goals and work to meet them. Among those goals will be:
o Attack our drug problem by aggressive enforcement.
o Work with other agencies to stop the rampant theft of
automobiles. Stategies such as task forces and "bait"
cars have proven effective in other parts of the
country.

o Diversify the Sheriff's Office to have a workforce
that is representative of the community we serve.

o Work closely with educators to teach your children
the dangers of drugs and alcohol as well as how to
stay safe from preditors.
I will continually monitor how we are doing and on a continual basis modify our approach to solving the County's crime problem to keep you and your family safe.
