Head of houshold jobs to Tracy

By Edward M "Ed" Gable

Candidate for Council Member; City of Tracy

More emphasis needs to be placed on bringing major employers to our town. We need to work with the proposed commercial and industrial projects to streamline the approval process, and make them a priority for our future economic health
Tracy has a great future. We are situated in a very desirable piece of real estate within the state. With the transportation network, access to international airports, and surrounded by the state's finest colleges and universities, we are primed for development of our economic base. Head of household jobs....what are they? They are the R&D facilities of the Silicon Valley. They are the start ups and extensions of existing successful companies. They are manufacturing jobs and even, to some degree, the warehousing and distribution base. This future is threatened, however. Status Quo has given us a lackadaisical approach to attracting head of household jobs, and handed the NIMBY element a winning hand in squashing our future. I propose to change all that. These job generating companies are run by and respond to active planning and promotion. Master planning by the city of our potential industrial and commercial/office space in paramount. While on the council, I will make this my priority. Promotion is more than an article in the trade newspaper. It is active recruitment and face to face meetings with potential clients, by members of council. A president of the company will respond to the policymaker's interest in their recruitment. You cannot deny the power this represents in the mind of these CEOs. While on the council, I will work with the Economic Development Director to actively recruit and meet these potential job generating CEOs and presidents. Job 1 is to provide for our citizens an active and secure future.
