Student AssignmentBy James M. Calloway, Ed.DCandidate for Board Member; San Francisco Unified School District | |

Regardless of school assignments; all schools within the SFUSD should provide an excellent educational program for all students. As an African-American educator in San Francisco, what is most important to me is that, every school in San Francisco offer the best education to all students. San Francisco is very small geographically, but because of demographics, some elementary schools will be more segregated than others. But once our students start attending Middle and High School this demographic will change. Last year a cross section of San Francisco students were surveyed and the students stated that integrated schools ranked 10th as a priority for the San Francisco Schools to them. Jobs and career planning rank #1 and #2. |
